KISS rules the rock n roll world in a mammoth concert in London

A beautiful sunny afternoon was the starting point of one of the biggest Rock events of the year in London. Five bands with different music styles blasted away in front of thousands of appreciative fans in Finsbury Park last Saturday. Telegraph Online’s music correspondent Angelika Grenzer was there and sends us this report for the benefit of those of us who could not attend.

The kick off occurred at two PM with the band Three Colours Red who played a good performance for forty-five minutes. The concert area offered excellent views of the stage, with the organisers having provided two huge monitors on each side, giving close up shots of the musicians on stage.

At three PM the British band Thunder stormed on to the stage amidst wild rock and roll from their fans, their voices were in top form with songs like "Love walked in through my door" or "Don’t wait up".

Thunder were appropriately followed by Skunk Anancie with a superb performance from singer Skin. Her sounds and songs were soon enthralling the audience. With her strong distinctive voice She had the crowd under her magic for a great part of the afternoon.

Before the headline band, we were treated to the hardcore explosive sounds of funk, metal and hip hop from Rage against the Machine the Californian band with their distinctive style and political statements.

At around 8 PM rock n rollers were ready for the biggest band of the evening the legendary rock megastars KISS. This band had asked their fans to come so they came in their thousands, some wearing the original make up ready for partying all night. They wanted the best and they got the best. Starchild, Demon, Space Ace and the Cat were back, all in superb form and bigger than ever.

The arena now erupted into a frenzy of ecstatic fans as the stage blazed with a the spectacular performance from these rock stars with their glittery platform boots lots of fake blood and their distinctive make up. This cult band from Brooklyn showed everyone what real rock n rollers can do when they decide to get back together after the original band had ceased to exist twenty years ago.

Beside the music, it was the activities of the musicians and the stage performance which carried the day Paul Stanley was projected one hundred feet into the audience and Geme Simmons was blasted fifty feet into the air in special exploding raisers.

The festival climaxed into huge explosions of spectacular fireworks transforming the noisy night of Finsbury Park into bright day. Paul Stanley told screaming fans "You people made us, we will not forget you, we promise to be back"!

During their mammoth tour KISS had played in two hundred and ten cities and in twenty-six countries but they showed no hint of road fatigue. They gave all they had to their fans on Saturday. Paul Stanley told reporters afterwards "We give 100 per cent every time. Every night is a new audience. Our fans have been waiting months and years to see us. They are the only audience that counts. It is exciting to know that expectations were high."

The rock legends will go into studio in October to work on a new album so fans don’t worry, KISS will be back and don’t forget to rock n roll and party every night.
